Registrar and hosting provider Gandi integrates Let's Encrypt's certificates.

Following the public release of Let's Encrypt in beta in December, Gandi is pleased to announce the technical integration of its Simple Hosting and Gandi Server hosting platforms with Let's Encrypt's free certificates program.

Hosting provider and domain name registrar Gandi has has begun to integrate Let's Encrypt certificates with across its hosting platforms with the eventual goal of offering compatibility across its entire suite of hosting options and has further committed to the project by providing its financial support.

Since 2009, Gandi has offered free SSL/TLS certificates for one year for each domain name purchase, along with professional-level certificates.

Gandi's CTO, Pascal Bouchareine, suggested Gandi's financial support and technical integration of Let's Encrypt with its hosting platform was justified by the promise of a simplified creation and installation process for free SSL/TLS certificates and the automation of the entire process:

"Widespread adoption of TLS certificates will contribute to improved security and confidentiality of communications for all users of the Internet," Bouchareine explained, "Let's Encrypt is a positive development in this direction and should be an available option for our hosting customers."

Adamant defender of universal Internet accessibility, the right to privacy and the liberty of expression for all since its inception in 2000, Gandi has committed to supporting more than 300 outside projects spanning technological and humanitarian goals. Caliopen, a free, secure messaging system that allows users to monitor and improve the level of confidentiality of their online activies, stands out as one notable example.

The integration of Let's Encrypt certificates and support of the project's parent organization is thus a natural expression of the Gandi spirit as an organization. Gandi began its effort earlier in January when it made a tool available on GitHub for the automated creation and installation of Let's Encrypt certificates on its Simple Hosting platform.
