Gandi is co-organizing the first international SCNS Cloud workshop

The premier international "Smart Cloud Networks & Systems" workshop will be held December 3 - 5, 2014 at Télécom ParisTech.

26 NOVEMBER 2014, PARIS
Summary
Gandi's Research and Development teams are contributing to the organization of the first international SCNS workshop, dedicated to best practices and optimization of Cloud solutions, in collaboration with l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie and l’Université Fédérale de Rio de Janeiro. The event is supported by the IEEE and IFIP.

The Cloud is becoming an enabler for enhanced control and management of IP and telecommunications networks. A rapidly-growing example of this is Software Defined Networking (SDN), in which the underlying tools include virtualisation and “Cloud” technology. However, a new paradigm is beginning to emerge: “Cloud” networks: nano, pico, small, large, super large, and extraordinarily large. Location of virtual machines is a major concern for performance optimisation, energy consumption, reliability, cost, etc. In such distributed global environments, control and adequate security measures are of particular concern, yet these, to date, have been largely overlooked giving rise to numerous attacks and incidents involving cloud and virtualised resources.

All of these subjects will be presented and discussed by, notably:

  • Louis Pouzin (Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, inventor of the datagram)
  • Paul Vincent Mockapetris (Internet pioneer, inventor of the DNS),
  • Jim Roberts (IRT-SystemX),
  • Prosper Chemouil (Orange Labs),
  • Guy Pujolle (UPMC).

The scientific SCNS 2014 program will include plenary presentations, regular sessions and special sessions. The program is based on contributions from invitees and proposals judged by an international selection committee. Accepted contributions will be published on the IEEEXplore website.

The complete conference program and registration are available on scns-workshop.org.
